Lone Star Dutch Oven Society - Dogwood Chapter

The LSDOS has chapters in several States who meet on a Saturday during the month to engage in cooking in a Camp Dutch Oven.   This method of preparing food has been around for many years.  When the Lewis and Clark Expedition got back to St. Louis, they had only two items left with them from the trip.  They had their guns and their Dutch Ovens.  These pots were prized by the frontiersmen who settled our country.

The members of the LSDOS enjoy keeping this traditional method of preparing food alive by getting together and cooking in the pots.  The Dogwood Chapter was organized about 4 years ago and the members meet every 1st Saturday of each month at the Tyler State Park to cook, socialize, and eat some of the best food ever tasted.   Cooking in a Dutch Oven is not only not hard to do, but it is a lot of fun.

So, stop by our Demo exhibit site on 4th Street and we will be happy to show you how to cook in a Dutch Oven and we will also hand out a biscuit or two.
